Linton, Herefordshire, Neighbourhood Watch (LNW) Community

The Linton Neighbourhood Watch has been suspended for the time being as recent coordinators have retired and no replacement volunteers have come forward. If on reading this you are minded to volunteer and need more information or advice please contact Nigel Vandyck or Bill Bagnall or the local police.

The current situation includes NW signs on most Linton Village road entrances and exits. Signs were funded by the Parish Council. Also, where the Police issued NW newsletters until 2010, limitations on Police resources meant that service had to close down. The function of a NW coordinator is to act as a liaison focus between the village and the police and, when appropriate, issue retrospective information on local incidents.

It has not been a NW function to provide a post office between individual residents and the Police; that said, precisely what the NW coordinator does or does not do is entirely down to him/her. Whatever the Coordinator decides to do in principle should be cleared by the police in the first instance. As at the time of publication of this notice the police would be delighted if someone or a group of villagers volunteered to reconstitute the Linton Neighbourhood Watch.
